In reply to Travis. Hi Travis, so glad you enjoyed reading the post. We were blown away by the food from the Amazon as well. We did get a chance to try the Paiche fish, but not the Patarashca. It sounds divine. Yes, you are right not only is the camu camu juice better than fruit punch, it is also full of vitamins. Sounds like you had a wonderful experience on the Amazon cruise. We hope to do one someday. Thanks for your comments.

Great post— I did a cruise on the Amazon and got to try the authentic dishes/produce and it was DELICIOUS! I’m missing camu camu juice so much…it’s better than fruit punch. Oh, and if you ever get to try Patarashca, a catfish-like fish called doncella wrapped in bijao leaves and cooked with tomatoes and onion..it is divine!

Hi Cynthia…beyond the culture, Peru is also the gastronomy capital of South America. You will be blown away by the food! Fresh and delicious, the food is to die for. It’s also pretty affordable too…especially if you eat at the farmers markets. You would have a great time!!

In reply to Liesbeth. Do not worry at all about finding vegetarian food in Peru. There are lots of options. The fruits and vegetable are fresh and many places will be able to adapt their recipes and make them "meat-free." You will love the food in Peru! Enjoy your trip!
